Anyone who knows Kyla and I, will say we’re incredibly close sisters. People often mistake us for friends with her blonde hair and my asian face, and the fact that we act like best friends. Now my best friend is very very far away. But here’s the thing I can’t tell people, she actually got kicked out of our home in manila rather than moving out.
She was seeing a guy twice her age who lives in the same apartment building as us, she was sneaking off at midnight. I feel a little guilty, because I knew about it. Once dad found out, she was gone within in a week. He booked her a one way ticket, and anything that happens on the other side, is up to her. Luckily she has some savings but she’s got to find a job now before her money runs out. She really didn’t want to leave, and everyone was almost … looking down on her? Saying that her life was now going be terrible because she chose to do this. I started feeling the same. I guess the last thing I expected was that… she actually is doing great. She’s staying in motels, meeting random people and going on adventures, going to Tesco’s, she looks so free. I’m so excited whenever she calls or sends updates, her life is so interesting. What I can’t stand though, is how my dad and my brothers will act like her life sucks now. I showed dad a photo of Kyla and he said “since when did Kyla have a midriff”. It reminds me of when I left home for 2 months, how amazing those 2 months were, but how my whole family looked down on me, except Kyla. Sometimes I worry I’ll never leave this family. I mean my oldest brother is 23, and he has no plans on leaving ever. We all work for my dad, and it’s this weird co-worker sibling arrangment. Anyway, I didn’t know how to feel about any of this so I thought I would just write about it here.
